Extra-Curricular Music

Music is an important part of life at St James' Primary. It is at the heart of everything we do. Songs are learnt as part of our curriculum to help with remembering important facts, as well as learning songs to sing as part of our daily worship. The extra-curricular aspect of Music is developing with our Key Stage 2 Choir and the introduction of guitar lessons in Key Stage 2.

Let's Go Sing 2023

Let's Go Sing 2023 was a fantastic experience for all the children involved. We took 58 Key Stage 2 children to King Georges Hall, Blackburn to perform alongside other Lancashire school children. We began rehearsing for the concert in October 2022; this included several sessions with the Let's Go Sing team. Mrs Longhi was very impressed with the level of singing and all of the children represented St James' exceptionally well.

2022-2023

Rose, from Let’s Go Sing, visited to teach us 4 new songs. Everyone loved the warm-ups and songs, especially the ones with actions.

We are looking forward to the performance on Tuesday 14th March 2023. Get it in your diaries now. More details in the new year.

St James’ Key Stage 2 Choir comprises boys and girls from Y3 to Y6. We have taken part in many performances including Christmas services, carol singing at Pendle Club & taking in part in the Crib Dedication Service at the Castle gates. King Georges Hall was our venue for the Sing Together concert in March 2020. The 2021 'Let’s Go Sing Online' concert was an online collaboration of Lancashire schools. We rehearsed four songs which were recorded and are available to watch by clicking on the link below.

In December 2021 we were invited to sing at the Christmas Light Switch-on at Mitton Hall, Whalley. This was a wonderful occasion and the choir sang beautifully. Choir also performed at Blackburn Rovers Football ground on Thursday 28th April 2022. This was an amazing experience for our children.

I am extremely proud of all the children in the choir. They are hard-working and committed to producing an amazing sound, whilst having lots of fun and making new friends. If you are interested in joining our choir, or have any questions, please speak to me.

Choir is Monday 1pm-1:30pm

We are now learning songs for a summer concert.

 More details to follow.
